Created by emerging artists, for emerging artists.

Through community, collaboration, and shared learning, the Northeast Emerging Artist Association aims to support the professional and creative growth of fellow early-career artists.

We connect members, share opportunities and resources, and invite practicing artists to speak and share their experiences in order to create a welcoming environment for those seeking futures in the contemporary art world.

The Northeast Emerging Artist Association was founded in partnership with the Kent Art Association by practicing artists Morgan Pietrorazio and Melissa Mauri, who met during KAA's Spring National Juried Show in 2026.

Members of NEAA meet at least two of the following criteria points:

  • Working artist for 10-years or less

  • Graduated from an art/arts-related institution within the past 10-years (current students are allowed/encouraged to attend)

  • Has not been represented by a commercial gallery (this excludes co-op galleries)

Programs & Events

Exchange ideas, make new friends, and become part of a growing community of peers.

NEAA is rooted in building meaningful connections through in-person programming in Kent, Connecticut. Whenever possible, we encourage artists to join us in person to meet fellow creatives, engage with visiting artists, and become part of our growing community. To make our programs accessible to artists across the Northeast, select events are also offered virtually.

Critique Nights

You are welcome to attend as a participant or observer.

Whether you're sharing work or simply offering feedback, your presence is valued and appreciated.

  • Bring finished artwork or works in progress to receive constructive feedback from fellow emerging artists and their guests in a judgement-free, supportive enviorment.

  • Share work with fellow artists who understand the challenges of creating a sustainable art practice early in your career

  • Explore a wide range of perspectives without ridgid expectations

Exhibition Opportunities

Exhibiting is less intimidating together.

From curated open calls to NEAA exhibitions, we make it easier to discover places to share your work and connect with the regional arts community.

  • Stay informed with a curated list of open-call opportunities across the Northeast, selected with emerging artists in mind. (This way, we can apply together!)

  • Apply to our open-call exhibitions that support emerging artists without requiring memberships or established connections.

  • Join us at opening receptions to support fellow artists, explore new exhibition spaces, and make lasting connections.

Artist Talks & Community Events

The art scene is better with real community.

Whether you’re attending an artist talk or a casual mixer, every event is an opportunity to learn, share ideas, and meet fellow emerging artists.

  • Learn from established artists, curators, and emerging artists with firsthand experience navigating the art world.

  • Build meaningful relationships that extend beyond social media through conversations, networking, and shared experiences.

  • Discover new opportunities, ask questions, and become part of a supportive creative network.

Throughout the year, both Northeast Emerging Artists & Kent Art Association host informal community gatherings, exhibition receptions, and networking events designed to help artists connect beyond our scheduled programs.
